Surathkal is Situated in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka state, India. It is under the control of Mangalore city corporation. It is the part of Mangalore city. Sadashiva Temple is on a hill near the beach. There is a beautiful spot near Sasihitulu village (5 km), formed at the point where River Pavanje connecting the Arabian Sea. It is a secluded spot really worth a visit. Krishnapura Matha (3 km), one of the ashta matha established by Sri Madhwaacharya is nearby.

Beaches - Being located on the shores of the Arabian sea, Surathkal has a few scenic beaches. The beach in front of Sadasiva temple is very tidy and picturesque. The private beach of NITK is also open to the public in any season.
