Mandakalli Airport is located in Mysore District of Karnataka state in India. This Airport is going to functional by 2010. Estimated Cost for this Project is Rs. 70.00 Crores(USD 17.50 Million). It's Owned by Central Government.
An amount of 72 Crore rupees has been invested for this Projects. A sanction of Rs140 crore will be used for the civil and electrical works of the second phase of the project.Already Rs. 1.43 crore had been paid to Chamundeswari Electricity Supply Company (CESC). According to sources in the AAI, work on the landing facility for ATR 72 type of aircraft with a seating capacity for 65 at Mandakalli is being taken up in two parts. The phase two of the project included infrastructure to facilitate landing of big aircraft such as Airbus 320 and Boeing 737.
Taxi way, peripheral road and a boundary wall are already built. Two runways made measure 1740 metres and 1350metres (1.3 to1.7 Km's). To facilitate the expansion of the second phase, the Mysore-Ooty national highway will be shifted 2.5 kms to the east of the present location.
