The internationally recognized heritage monument of our country, personifying the art and culture of the Pallava kings. One of the most famous temples here is the Shore Temple and is next to the beach. If coming from Chennai ensure you reach this temple between 6 am to 6 pm, as it is shut down after 6 pm. Also, keep in mind that it takes roughly an hour to reach Mahabalipuram from Chennai.
