Dubare Forest in Coorg

Dubare is a forest area, amidst the thriving greenery of Coorg on the banks of river Kaveri, in between Kushalnagar and Siddapur, wherein an elephant training camp of the Forest Department of Coorg is present. This area is populated by the Kurbas, the local tribals. During the period of Maharaja of Mysore, the Dubare reserve forest was used to train the elephants for the impressive Mysore Dussehra festival.

Dubare is the destination for the tourists to get an adventurous stay and as such can be really a fun trip as well as real adventure. Dubare offers to its visitor's fun fishing, rafting and trekking in the wild hilly terrains. Pretty backwaters with some small islands here and there and thick forest on the banks offers Dubare the well deserved spot as a tourist paradise. One can do boating or go for elephant rides to experience the marvelous offers made by Dubare.

Nature has copiously provided Dubare its galore and splendor. Many places near Dubare attract the tourists. Main attractions in this forest area are Harangi dam site, Nisargadhama, Veerabhoomi and the celebrated Elephant Training Camp. The Nagarhole National Park, country's first bio-sphere reserve, is close to to Dubare. One can go for tours conducted by the Forest Department, along the well-defined routes for tourists, in the early mornings and evenings.
